Report by Giedymin Jablonski
Chairmen of jewellery art contest „For you”
For the second time already we succeeded in inspiring artists to focus their attention around the theme of the International Baltic jewellery show “Amber Trip” contest. 71 participants from 13 countries: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Ireland, Austria, Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Finland answered to our invitation. The jury members had a real pleasure to see the works entered in the competition and then a serious problem to award prizes as their number was unfortunately strictly limited.
Fine arts, an element of every culture/civilisation of importance difficult to overvalue, are like blossom, beautiful but delicate. To develop and flourish they need to be cultivated.
This artistic contest is at first sight like a flower adorning the Amber Trip Show, but it is not its only role. It is also an important lodestar for designers and producers and above all a rich source of human philosophical reflection so necessary for all of us. Therefore I must express my deep satisfaction and gratitude to the organisers who understood the meaning and decided to make effort of sponsoring of the project.
The whole jury agreed that the level of this year competition was very high and the collection of chosen entries is of special artistic value.
The jury composed of: Giedymin Jablonski (Poland) – chairman, Eeva Wornell (Finland), Jurgita Ludaviciene (Lithuania), Mona Wallstrom (Sweden), Mila Kalnitskaya & Misha Maslennikov (Russia), Michael Petry (United Kingdom), Michael Zobel (Germany) awarded the following prizes:
