Vilnius has always been and will always be the capital of the Baltic jewellery art
Traditions continue: at the beginning of March, despite the frightening prospects of the world crisis, all fans, connoisseurs, professionals and beauty and art lovers gathered to the 6 International Baltic Jewellery Exhibition “Amber Trip”. This year, Vilnius is the Capital of European Culture, and on 5–8 March guests of the city had even two opportunities to witness that, because these days Vilnius is also the capital of the Baltic jewellery art. The exhibition presented jewellery art articles from across the world. Companies from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Turkey, Germany, Russia, Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy, Ukraine, India and Greece participated in the exhibition.
“Amber Trip” is a major specialised jewellery exhibition in the Baltic States. The very name of the exhibition highlights the significance of the “northern gold”, i.e. amber, one of the most beautiful and mysterious stones in the world. Articles from “solidified sun drops” made up 50 percent of the jewellery articles presented during the exhibition. The other half of the articles was gold, silver, diamonds, rubies, pearls and etc.
Today, when the jewellery market has entered the period of instability, the organisers of the exhibition “Amber Trip” are not afraid of challenges of the crisis, and the exhibition has attracted a great number of customers. This has become a serious test for jewellers and manufactures’ artistic attitudes, whereas jewellers’ skills and the beauty of jewellery articles astonished the guests and …made them pay.
An International Competition of Jewellery Crafts “For You” was organised within the framework of the exhibition. The crisis has not suppressed the art! The participants of the jewellery art had the task to create and present a jewellery article or a set of articles designed for a specific person. Artists from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Ireland, Austria, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Belgium and Finland participated in the competition.
An educational programme of the exhibition drew particular visitors’ attention – each lecture attracted so many listeners that the audience was full. During seminars, the audience had the opportunity to familiarise itself with artistic activities of world famous jewellers and the current international jewellery industry from art representatives’ point of view.
Next 2010 year VIP guests of the exhibition will receive:

This year, Lithuanian and Polish jewellers and designers presented marvellous clothing and jewellery collections. Designers demonstrated their artistic thinking, skills and original ideas reflected in their works of art. We had the opportunity to see unique works and an exceptional design, and to attend the presentations of extraordinary and marvellous collections.
During the event, 7 collections with various materials, such as linen, silk, amber, silver and plastic and other materials prevailing were presented. Combinations of various materials and articles reflected the designers’ inner world, which is perceived very individually. Some collections amused with their provocative modernism, others breathed classic cosy romance. But all collections were exceptional and unique.
We invite you to visit the 7 International Baltic Jewellery Show “Amber Trip”, which will take place on 4 – 7 March, 2010.
The world crisis is getting tougher each day, but, as Dostoyevsky wrote “Beauty will save the word”! We hope that you saw the evidence of that during your visit to the exhibition “Amber Trip”.
