The company C. Fabergé, Saint Petersburg – the Court Jeweller for Russia, The Great Britain, Sweden and Siam.

Peter Carl Fabergé was born in Saint Petersburg 30 May 1846 to the jeweller and goldsmith
Gustav Fabergé family. In this city, Peter’s father Gustav Fabergé opened a small workshop on Bolshaya Morskaya Street.

Anton Ananiev, one of the most famous of Russian gemstone carvers, was born in Saint-Petersburg at 1, Serdobolskaya Street. By a historic confluence of circumstances, on the 25th of October 1917, Vladimir Lenin stepped out that particular house to conduct the most known and massive revolution in human history.  The secret apartment of the leader of world proletariat, in which the museum is still located, was separated from the room where Anton drew the first breath only by not very thick brick wall…

“Jewellery Olympus” – 2009!

The 14th International show “St.-Petersburg Jeweller” was held on 9-13 December in St.-Petersburg city center at the “Manezh” venue on St.-Issac’s Square. This show, organized by the Exhibition Association “Stone World”, among the others is remarkable for its annual designers’s jewellery and lapidary art competition “Jewellery Olympus”. This show is traditionally one of the leading events in the culture life in St.-Petersburg and Russia by its scale and number of participants, competitors and visitors.

Minerals Invading the Russian Market

In recent years, the Russian market of jewellery and minerals has witnessed the emergence of a new commodity. Its market is vulnerable and the customer demand is not stable, but, despite of the crisis, the showcases with druses of Brazilian amethysts, peculiar quartz patterns and slices of agate attract peoples’ attention and make some of them loosen their purse strings.

In 2009 an outstanding Kaliningrad artist and designer and an enthusiast and creator of a special “amber outlook” Elena Gradinarova passed away.

Due to her open-heartedness and energy, Elena kept in touch with almost all public organizations and museums of Kaliningrad Oblast. Her creative work goes beyond our region and is an example of creativity and a special perception of the gift of Kaliningrad land – the amber.
